    Poker league

Ok, I am tired of just talking about it....I am actually going to start a league that will run for a given number of weeks and consist of a final championship event where players will be given starting chip stacks depending on their points gathered each event.  The prize pool for this championship event will come from a weekly event "surcharge" for lack of a better word; this money will go towards the final event prize pool.

We can each volunteer to host events, so it isn't all on one house for the entire league.  I will volunteer up front to host 2 events per month.  One event per week is not excessive, so I am going to base my league plan on that premise.  I know there are going to be a few nay-sayers; but anyone can choose to come play as many or few events as they want; only your final championship event stack will be affected by your choice.  Each weekly standard event will have even chipstacks to start.

I will post details as I draw this up, but would like to get feedback from all interested.  Thank you....AceSmall

Here is what things will look like.  The top player will end up doing well for themselves.

Hurry, RSVP as league will begin first Friday in September…..

    League Point System

ü       Points system is based on final table finish position.  (9pts for 1st –1pt for 9th)

o        Maximum points if finished 1st in every weekly event = 234.

o        Minimum points if finished 9th in every weekly event  = 26.

ü       26 weekly events at $20.00+ $5.00 towards final event prize pool.

ü       Weekly events will start with 2000 in chips.

ü       Weekly event blind levels will be 30 minutes, starting at 10/20.

ü       Weekly event payouts will be top 3 places based on 50/30/20%.

ü       There will be a final event “base” chip stack of 2000 in chips.  “Bonus” chips added to starting stack will be based on ratio of 1pt. = 25 chips.  (This means all final event players will have at least 2000 chips to start, with added chips based on their performance throughout weekly league events.)

ü       In order for a player to be eligible to play in final event, they must have entered at least 10 weekly events.

Blind structure for weekly events will be as follows:

    AceSmall Fall Poker League

    ·       $20+$5 weekly event buy-in ($20 as buy-in for weekly event prize pool and $5 going towards chanpionship event at end of league)

    ·       Players choose which events and how many events they wish to attend.  You can show up for as many events as you wish, your attendance will not affect your running point totals; your placing at events you DO show up for will.   What this means is you can show up in only a few events, yet have more points towards league standings than someone that is attending every event  if  you have strong showings the events you do attend.  This should take people’s concerns out of the picture about not being able to or wanting to attend every event.

    ·       ……more to come……feel free to be part of this and give me some feedback.

Hey Andres just keep asking Jesse to play ring games and you guys can forget the remodel and buy a bigger house.

    Jim,

There was a tournament similar to this in Indiana before I came up and the guys that ran the league put part of the championship event money into buying a gold and diamond bracelet (nice but not overly expensive) to give it the feel of a WSOP event for the winner.  Might want to check and see if there would be any interest in that.  It took on a lot of attention.  You could always do something other than a bracelet as well but just something that acknowledges the win.

    Mason,

Thanks for the feedback.  I'm not against that idea at all.  Maybe the bracelet, watch or ring could be part of the prize pool; with prize pool cash left after the piece of jewelry still being distributed to players based on placing.  My best friend is a jeweler, and I can get anything at cost...which is very good in the jewelry business because of the high retail markup.  He is an expert engraver and would make a nice piece with any design we could throw at him.

While I am drawing out this league idea, I would really like to get feedback on what days of the week, time, etc is good for everyone.

I think that friday or saturday is the best day, do you want to try and start this up in the summer though?  If it started in september I would up for possibly hosting one week a month and helping with stuff.

I am looking at starting it August September.  Like I said, you don't have to show up to every event to have a shot at the league standings, just place well the times you do show at.

Fridays - saturdays 7:00 p.m. starting time,  your 10 - 15  best results counts for your league puntuation, and i'll be able to host once for a month around october.

    That's my brilliant thinking

I know that you are low on chairs if you need those chairs back that you gave to me you can have them for the games at your house.

Thanks, I'll take you up on it.  Then as you need chairs, I can ferry them over....
