    Vegas Trip

So I am looking at planning a vegas trip around the middle of october.  I got to looking at ticket prices and hotel prices and figured the whole thing is going to about 800 to 1200 bucks, plus food.  So I was wondering if I am able to play alot of poker, would it be that hard to make that money back and some at the tables.  I plan on playing 1/2 and 4/8 up to 10/20 limit depending on my current bankroll at the time.  Oh I will be staying for 4 to 5 days.

I am goign to vegas to have fun, but I am also going to make some money.  The money I am using to pay for this trip will come out of my poker bankroll so I would like to put it back in and add to it.

ANy opinoins or other games I could play.

If you find the right off-the-strip casinos you could make a killing at no-limit RoShamBo.

When you check airfare, be sure to check vacation packages.  If you buy close to your trip, the vacation packages usually give you what amounts to free hotel.  This is assuming you're travelling with someone.

I would also check out some of the cheap tournaments.  The Orleans has some good blind structure ones.  15/30 at Bellagio wasn't bad.

Or for your hotel you can get a poker room rate.  Go to www.allvegaspoker.com

Caesars has a good tourney too.  The one at noon daily is the better one......

For a good cheap tourney - Sahara.  Good structure.  The 7:00pm on seems to have the most people, giving a better pay out.

    Re: Vegas Trip

in 2005 I was in vegas roughly 5 or 6 times and i loved the sahara tournament but i was back there not a month or two ago and they sped up the blinds, before it was the 7pm tournament which was decent and that was it, now they have a 7pm and 11pm tournament so they try to make sure the thing is sped up.  However for the price it's one of the better tournaments but their cash games there suck, i think their highest limit is 4/8 limit.

Good tournaments are at caesars, good blinds but larger buy ins just 50-100 and one add on.  The plaza has good tournaments but again 100 buy in usually with a single add on but the blinds rock, all other tournaments in town normally suck with fast blinds and small starting stacks they do the tournaments to get you there for the cash games.  Only place that doesn't is Sahara but it's an ehh tournament but unfortunately probably the best for your money in vegas for the price.

    Re: Vegas Trip

I played in the 11:00 pm Sahara tourney last month and the 7:00 was still going on.  1st place was paying like $3000 that night.  Not bad if you buy in for $42 + 20 re-buy.  The 11:00 one didn't pay as much and I don't remember how much it was - too much alcohol!  LOL

The 1/2NL cash game was juicy though!

    Re: Vegas Trip

when i showed up the last time it was ok tournament, after a little while it became a push in game which i hate in tourneys and they couldn't get the 1/2 nl cash game going for lack of people so the biggest game was 2/4 or 3/6 limit holdem, pointless sitting there with 5-7 people to the river, so i played black jack :-) then hit the paris the next day and other casinos the other days.

I do like how they shovel food down your face each night for the 7pm tournament.

    Re: Vegas Trip

If you don't mind going off the strip Binion's has two 60+10 tourenys a day, I think at noon and at seven.  I played 1/2 NL there for a couple days and each tourney I saw had between 100 and 300 people.  Plus the dealers are super cool and I just thought it was fun playing there.  But then again I prefer to do all my gambling downtown.

    Re: Vegas Trip

I need to go too!  I probably won't get to go until next year - unless I win a trip.

There is a $100 charity buffet w/free Texas Hold 'Em tournament coming up on 9/3 here in Wasilla.  1st prize is a WPT $2500 buy-in at Bellagio (Festa Al Lago Classic October 2 - 19th) including travel expenses.  This might be my only chance to get there again in 2006.

    Re: Vegas Trip

Is there a flier available for that? Sounds like something I might be interested in playing.

    Re: Vegas Trip

I will get you guys a flier.  It's $100 for the buffet - then you get to play in a "Free" tournament.  It's a fund raiser for the iditarod.  I just e-mailed the guy and asked him for a flier.  I will post it when I get it back from him.  I can get you guys tickets too if you want.
