    Re: Poker league

Maybe what you need to do is have everyone that wants to be in the league pay 50 bucks, then it takes their best 10 games over a 26 week period.  Then the people that paid 50 bucks play for the championship game, with the pts from their best 10 games, that way you don't have someone that played in all 26 paying 26X5 and some peopel that only played in 10, having close to the same chips and that person who only played in 10 having the same chance of winning 1st as the person that donated alot more to the prize pool.

You are going to run into issues though for people that are not in the league, maybe have them pay 5 dollars for each game they attend(up to 50 dollars).

Just so we know what we are talking about and where we are (i.e. for those who haven't picked up a calculator yet)-

5 bucks per person (assuming one 9 person table) for 26 weeks (one game a week) equals $1170.

and that will be more or less depending...

Right.  I just made a couple of assumptions to make the math easy.

Ok, anyone that comes to play weekly event will join the league.  If they show up for a weekly event, they will be paying $20+$5.  Like I said previously, I want to keep it simple and not get into some micro-managed issue like it could turn out to be.  This will be fun, not work.  Most people that will play a weekly game during the fall won't have an issue with 26 weeks being long, etc....so lets get off that subject IMO.

As for someone paying more $5.00 payments into final prize pool...that is all part of not being as good as perhaps someone that can get away with showing up 10 times and making good showing of equal or greater chips by final event.  This is poker, best player should win.....can't believe I just said that.

What he is saying is have a league fee and not the 20+5, not have both.

I know what he is saying.  I am saying there are already 14 people emailing me saying they are in.  I don't want to go and make meaningless changes just to shorten a season that a bunch of people have already responded to as is.  There are a lot of people that don't mind a 26 week league since it means a bigger payout at the end and they would be probably playing somewhere each week anyways.  Capiche?

It is a given with the $20+$5 that there will probably also be quite a few "donors" that build up the final event pot and will not be there to play...

Bottom line, I don't want to ruin this league thread because you feel the need to get into a pissing match with me, Ron.  Go back to being courteous or email me if you are upset by my reply.  I sure didn't have any malice when I replied.

    Re: Poker league

One thing makes not much sense to me: If we are playing a " league", what's the sense on let people join for exemple only the last tourney and maybe win? Would that person be the champion and someone that won let's say 4 tourneys end behind? hmmmmmmm. And same about the $5. If i put down 100 bucks cause let's say i play 20 tourneys, and no matter if i win 19 of them, if one guy that never showed befoe wins the last one and is the champion i would be pretty piss.

I think that the expression " league" means regularity, and if Jimbo is open for feedbacks, we all can make aportations.

    Andre,

Let me explain my thinking to you on this league.  First, NO ONE will be able to just enter the final event if they haven't played in any weekly events.  There will be a minimum of 10 weekly events that must be attended in order for a person to be considered eligible to play in the final event.  Now if someone wants to show up for 9 weeks and play weekly with no intention of making it to the final event, that is fine.  So, once again, to be eligible to play in final event; a player must have entered at least 10 weekly events.  Their placing in the 10 events is NOT important as it will only affect their starting final event chip stack.  Thanks for the catch, Andre.  I appreciate the feedback.  Jimbo

    Re: Poker league

Cool. New thinking: The bottom line is to get points to get as many chips as you can at the final event right?

    Check out this

                                     Media of players          12                    15

    Prize pool at final event after 26 tourneys       1560 $             1950 $

    Champion bracelet, 30% of prize pool              468 $                585$

    Remaining prize pool                                     1092$             1365 $

    1st place      50%                                         546$                682$

    2nd. place    30%                                         328$                409$

    3rd. place     20%                                         218$                274$

    Points distribution after every tourney=

1st = 500              2nd = 300         3rd =  200.  After 26 tourneys, the 9 players with more points play the final event, wich will be a free one. Can you guys give it a tought?
