Re: The Longest Random Post Ever!
This years WSOP main event is ridiculous they are having four day ones of 2,000 people per day with as many as 500 alternates per day and they are playing down to 800 people each day so after the four days we'll be at 3200 people which is still more than the 2500 that Greg Raymer had to beat just 2 years ago. This tournament is insane, who would of thought you had to make the top 800-900 just to make the money. So you can compare it to if you made it to the top 900 you earn 12k probably and in 2003 when moneymaker won there were 836 competitors, wow did this tournametn blow up.
How many known pros do you think will make the top 100 people. Because at this point is where they can probably really determine if they have a realistic chance of winning the tournament or not. Haschem last year never thought he had a shot to win such a large tournametn until he had chips and there were 100 people left.

Re: The Longest Random Post Ever!
Is there really any skill in this tournament. I mean I am not sayign that Hachem is not a good poker player, but is he really any better than the guy you set across from at your home game. Sure he will get alot better cause he now has 7 million dollars and can play against pros in any tournement he wants.
I think you can just put all the players on a wheel and spin that wheel and that is as a guess as actaully picking some one for a reason.
I would love to see a pro win it, but unless they get real lucky if will probably not happen.

Re: The Longest Random Post Ever!
Come on Raymer and Haschem are good, raymer was playing 150/300 mixed cash games before he won and Haschem is a semi pro player in australia who bought his own way into the event, so they are definitely good and have had successes since then. Moneymaker is one of the throw a dart at a spinning wheel player, sure he's good but ummm yeah :-)
I think in the top 100 will be half ridiculous lucky idiots but the other 50 will be good players, but how many top pro's do you think.
I'm guessing in the final 100 people you'll see 5 top name pros, that's stil a lot because that deep in the tournament and if they have stacks they'll be legitimate favorites to make the final table at that point.

Re: The Longest Random Post Ever!
okay okay, that mysterious hole in the map where it is one hundred eight thousand degress today still seems a little excessive.

Re: The Longest Random Post Ever!
I haven't seen a movie in the theatre in awhile now and I enjoy going to the movies. How come I can't watch new films at home, i wouldn't mind payperview movies that aren't on video, i have a problem pay perview movies I can rent.

Re: The Longest Random Post Ever!
This is an ongoing problem I have not been to the movies in about 2 years. I hate to payperview movies, it is just for the lazy folks that can't go to the video store. I have a nice setup in my house for watching movies that I spent alot of money on. Watching regulare broadcast tv on it is a waste.
So why can't movie studios release the movies that are in the theatre to payperview or some other form. The real reason is piracy, you have people that are willing to sit in a theatre with a movie camera, how hard do you think it is would be to sit at home and rip it directly from your tv.
I know of a few movie studios that are doing this, one partially owned by Mark Cuban, Dallas Mavericks owner got rich off the internet. He would release some of movies his studio did to his channel HDNet at the same time they were going to the theatre. These were not big movies, but watching them on HDNET was even better quality than watching them on a DVD since a DVD is not High Definition.
It will never happen for the big studios, everyonce in awhile though movies that are in the theatre do get released out on the Internet in perfect DVD quality.

Really? I thought this was an urban legend. Do you have proof that this happens?

I heard on some news site that Lord of the Rings(not sure which one) got pirated on DVD about 2 months after it was released in the theatre. I just remember watching it at some ones house but can't remember who that ones, sorry.

Re: The Longest Random Post Ever!
If i were to have a superpower, I'd want a poker super power now. When you're at the poker table adn they fan out the cards face up I'd like the card counting ability to be able to see and memorize where the cards are when they flip them over, then as they shuffle the cards memorize the order they are being shuffled in with my monstrous new super poker brain, so when they dealt out the cards I'd know what everyone had and I'd also know what cards were coming on the flop, turn and river. There wouldn't be a poker tournament I'd lose.
Of course if and when I develop this poker super power I won't ever tell anyone, i'd just let the world keep thinking i'm just the worlds greatest poker player in the world.
Trust me I did factor in the fact i'd have to set up losing some hands and making bad calls so nobody is suspicious of my secret super poker identity.
